About Me

Mark Smitton is a Project Management and Operations Professional with over ten years experience in completing projects that meet his client's needs', on time and within budget. This experience is also combined with his Operational Management expertise, which he used to improve business performance and value. He has successfully worked with public sector organisations as well as large and small private enterprises.

Most recently, he has been working with a company in the Recruitment sector seeking to expand their service offering and differentiate them in a crowded market. He has also been working with a new business seeking to launch a business information service that will offer unique support to SMEs.

His specific areas of expertise are business process re-engineering, project management, both on site and virtually, data and business analysis, business planning and bringing about operational efficiency savings. In addition Mark has expertise in ensuring that a business's policies, procedures and organisational structure are aligned to strategic goals. This is in combination with ensuring that customer and employee satisfaction drive business success.

Representative accomplishments include:

• Developed and implemented a client and consultant management strategy while at Business Link for London that ensured Mark led over 700 clients successfully through Human Resource focused consultancy projects, implemented by a team of over 50 HR consultants that he managed, in a business critical project.

• Increased client satisfaction by 12% and ensuring that, by re-engineering client contact business processes and roles, client satisfaction went on to be measured as the highest in the sector.

• Designed the risk management strategy for a high profile, time critical project with Indra while working on the London 2008 Elections. The use of this risk management strategy, along with the implementation of certain scenario action plans ensured that the overall project was completed successfully.

• Realigned BVA's client facing teams and implemented new business processes and roles that led to an increase in productivity of over 22% without any increase in headcount.

Throughout his career Mark has always been known as a results orientated professional that is able to deliver outcomes increase productivity, reduce inefficiencies and align business strategic goals, and operational processes, to what the end user actually requires, now and in the future.

He has undertaken study and courses in project management, business planning, data and business analysis, law, quality management, human resources and operations. Mark believes that self development has been, and will continue to be, the foundation of his knowledge base.

With major interests in law, politics, history, travel, physical fitness, as well as his business interests, Mark enjoys all aspects of his lifestyle.

Current Focus

I find it a challenge working on multiple projects, or projects with multiple work streams, as I am currently doing. I enjoy the variety that this work brings and find that I am able to build on my existing skill base at an accelerated rate. My project focus to date has been in operations, business consultancy, business process improvement and client engagement, working within a broad range of sectors, both public and private, with an emphasis on working with SMEs.
